Professor David Green, Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive of the University of Worcester, has officially launched Halesowen College's new Careers and Higher Education Centre.
Professor Green was the special guest at the College Open Day and, as well as launching the new Centre, he met students and staff and toured the College.
The Open day was extremely successful and attracted over 850 potential students from around the local area, who were getting more information about the vast range of courses on offer.
Curriculum areas, including Hair & Beauty and Media, put on displays to show what students had achieved.
The new Careers and Higher Education Centre has opened in response to the growing number of students leaving Halesowen College to go on to Further Education, Higher Education and training.
Careers advice plays a vital role in supporting students in their applications to other colleges and universities.
In the new Centre, students and visitors can access expert careers advice from highly professional and experienced staff and look through an extensive list of resources.
Halesowen College has a special partnership arrangement with the University of Worcester and provides a number of Higher Education courses, such as foundation degrees.
Halesowen College Principal, Keith Bate, said: "We are delighted to welcome Professor Green to Halesowen to open our new Centre.
"Young people and their parents trust us to give them the best education and this new careers centre will help them map out their future careers and give them extra resources.
"Last year we had more than 670 students go on to higher education and the University of Worcester is one of our key partners."
Professor David Green said: "It is an honour and privilege to be invited to officially launch this new Centre.
"Halesowen College has great leadership and staff, there is a great atmosphere where students are really motivated to learn.
